MOON’iverse
Welcome to the Hola Luna MOON'ivers. Here you will find inspiration, ideas and knowledge about the moon, moon journaling, cyclic living and all things living la vida luna. If you are new to journaling, working and living with the moon as an anxchor and a guide, this is a good place to look.
-
The moon has fascinated humans for centuries and we find examples of devotion to the moon in almost every ancient culture. The moon appears in cave paintings and has played a role in arts through centuries. Artists, painters, poets and composers have expressed their love and fascination for her and you can find her in many songs, poems, movies and paintings. The moon is something we all have in common. There is something poetic, magical and mystical about the moon. She rotates anticlockwise and with our time obsession here on Planet Earth it is almost as if she is reminding us to slow down, to take in the beauty and to listen to the messages hidden in the silence. And even in her peaceful magnitude, she shows us a silent power. She is the ruler of ebb and flow and just imagine the power it takes to set oceans in motions. The moon is a guide, an anchor and a mirror, and to live with her means attuning into a natural rhythm. A natural flow.
-
The moon has a cycle of 29,5 days and during that time she travels around the Earth through her 8 different phases. In the Hola Luna Journals we mainly work with the New Moons and Full Moons, but below you can read more about the 4 major Phases: New Moon, First Quarter, Full Moon and Last Quarter.
New Moon: Planting the seeds
What does your dream life look like? What visions stir in the quiet corners of your heart? In what areas do you long to grow, to stretch, to expand?
The New Moon is your invitation to pause and listen—to check in with yourself and ask the questions that may just change everything. The New Moon is the beginning.
Though the moon hides her face, her presence is potent. In nature, all things begin in darkness—seeds buried in soil, babies cradled in the womb, roots reaching into the earth.
Your dreams are no different. They too are planted in the dark.On this day, write down what it is you wish to call in—your dreams, your intentions, your heart’s quiet longings. These are your seeds.
Then, close your eyes and see them. Picture yourself in the life you desire. Feel it. Smell it. Believe it. The mind, after all, is a powerful gardener. This is intention setting. This is the magic of beginnings.
This is where manifesting with the moon begins.First quarter moon: Look for signs
The moon is now half-lit, halfway to full, and her light begins to grow.
This is the time to open your eyes and start looking—for signs, for whispers, for the Universe gently nudging you forward.Signs may come in strange forms:
A lyric in a song, a sentence in a book, a feather drifting down from nowhere.
A conversation, a coincidence, a sudden knowing.Stay alert. Stay open. Trust that the Universe is speaking.
And when it does, listen with your whole self.Full Moon: Release and let go
The moon has reached her luminous peak—full, glowing, and alive with energy.
This is the time of release.Use the full moon’s light to reflect. Let her brightness illuminate the habits, beliefs, and stories about yourself that no longer serve you.
Let her show you the shadows you've avoided, the weights you've carried too long.Release them.
Write them down. Burn the paper. Cry it out. Dance it off.
Do whatever you must to let go.Because in order to grow, you must create space.
In order to manifest the new, you must release the old.Third Quarter: Finish what you have started
You’ve set your intentions. You’ve done the work of letting go. Now it’s time to stay with it.
This is the phase of follow-through. Of finishing what you’ve started. The energy may wane, but your resolve should not.
Don’t abandon yourself here. Keep moving. Keep believing. Keep doing the work. This is where dreams turn into action. Where intention becomes reality. Where you sign the soul contract and honor your commitment to yourself.
Let this phase be your reminder:
You are powerful. You are capable. And you are worthy of your dream life -
Moon journaling is a practice of reflection, manifestation, and deepening awareness.
It’s nearly impossible to remain unconscious when you're asked to put your thoughts on paper. That’s the quiet power of journaling, it draws your attention inward and invites you to truly notice your thoughts. With moon journaling, we take this practice a step further.
At the New Moon, we tune into our most honest desires and set intentions that come from the heart. The moon, in all her quiet wisdom, has a way of exposing the truth in us. Not revealing what we think we should want, but what we truly long for.She is a gentle, constant companion on the journey within.
When the Full Moon rises, her brilliance invites us to face our fears, acknowledge our limiting beliefs, and release the blocks that hold us back. In this light, we can see ourselves more clearly and let go of what no longer serves us.Because the moon follows a natural rhythm, your journaling practice will begin to follow one too. Reflection and manifestation flow in cycles, just as she does.
Of course, there will be days, or even seasons, when you fall out of the habit. When life gets busy, or heavy, or uncertain, and sitting down with your journal feels far away. Let that be okay. Don’t judge yourself. Like the moon, you too have phases.
There will be days when you're full of energy, ideas, and radiant light.
And there will be days when you want only to rest in the shadows. Both are sacred. Both are needed. If you fall away from your practice, simply return, on the next day, the next New Moon, the next moment you feel called. Look up at the moon and remember: she always returns to fullness. So will you.
Moon Rituals
Moon journaling is more than a tool for reflection and manifestation.
It is a sacred practice of ritual, rhythm and self-care.
The moon flows in cycles, and so do we. Why not let her remind you, cycle after cycle to carve out space for yourself, your thoughts, and your dreams?Let her phases guide you back home to your own inner rhythm.
Let your journal become a sanctuary, a place to return, to listen, to grow.Daily Journaling Rituals
Light a Candle
Before you write, light a candle. Gaze softly into the flame.
Let it slow your breath, calm your mind, and set the tone. Let this gentle glow hold space for your reflections.Play Music
Put on music that soothes or inspires. Let the sounds wrap around you like a soft blanket. Music can be a portal into the moon journaling state—calm, creative, and open.Meditation & Breathwork
Close your eyes. Breathe deeply.
Let stillness find you.
This is one of the most powerful ways to align with the energy of the moon and the whispers of the Universe. Be still. Breathe. Listen.Rituals for the New Moon & Full Moon
Swim in the Ocean
A most cherished full moon ritual is swimming under the moonlight.
It’s pure magic. If you ever get the chance—take it. Let the water hold you. Let the moonlight bless you. Even once is unforgettable.Take a Bath
When the ocean isn’t near, take a warm bath. Light candles. Play soft music. Add your favorite oils or salts. Let the water become a sacred space to relax, reflect, and receive.Ceremonial Cacao
While I often journal with coffee or tea, the new and full moons call for something more intentional like ceremonial cacao. It’s rich, earthy, and heart-opening. The ritual of preparing it, the aroma, the taste, it all deepens the experience.Charge Your Crystals
Many place their crystals under the full moon, but the new moon is powerful too. Leave them on a windowsill or outside to soak in lunar energy. Let them absorb your intentions and radiate them back to you.Be in Nature
If you live in the city, seek out green spaces—a park, a garden, even a single tree. Nature grounds us when lunar energy is strong. Let your bare feet touch the earth. Let your spirit rest among the roots and branches.Gather in Community
Share your practice. Connect with others who honor the moon and the cyclical way of life. Whether in a circle, online, or with a friend, there is beauty in community. There is magic in sharing ritual.Let the moon be your mirror. Let her rhythms become your rituals.
And above all, let this be a practice of love for your mind, your spirit, and the life you're here to create. -
